Turn to Love
Do you sometimes feel despair at the state of the world?
You wouldn’t be alone, as the latest news can be enough to send you running for the woods! Perhaps that’s not a bad thing, because our wonderful trees have so much wisdom to offer us.
My Annie and Eva story this week reminded me of the importance of not allowing myself to get sucked into a state of drama for too long.
At times it can feel oh so good to feel the drama. It plays to my need for certainty, variety, significance and even belonging. Particularly when I get encouragement from fellow well-versed storytellers of the ‘doomatic’ arts. However, these days I am acutely aware that my needs aren’t always met in a way that is helpful for me or the planet.
When we get sucked into our (over)thinking mind, it is easy to get stuck in our fear-induced feelings created by our internal storyteller. Often we find ourselves moving from sadness to anger and back again. It can be challenging to get off this merry-go-round and I often work with my coaching clients gently around this area.
But let me share the good news! Having the capacity for creating drama thinking is a clear sign of a creative mind! Imagine putting that creative ability to better use instead?
Reconnecting ourselves to our creative heart space helps us break the cycle in a loving and playful way. Amidst the chaos we find ourselves in, we’re able to find a state of peace. In that peace, we are able to let go of the story of doom and gloom and, instead, reconnect with the truth of loving joy and possibility.
When we feel connected and supported, we feel empowered and more able to work lovingly towards our vision of a better world.
Love from Annie and Eva,
